Aarti Jadu and Claire de Carteret’s practices converge in sound and ceramic to develop sculptural and interactive works. They are interested in how listening rather than hearing, raises a kind of intimacy, perhaps in the way it develops subjective interpretation and reflection.
🐚From a background of group devotional music stemming from India and folk tradition, Aarti Jadu’s practice seeks to integrate group and public participatory work into contemporary composition and public programming. Several sound projects include Khyaal Vocal Ensemble, public sound installation embodiments co-presented by ACCA, City of Melbourne and Testing Grounds. Most recently Aarti undertook a residency, developing a series of vocal workshops presented at Correspondences Studio.
